AIMS To deliver injectable equipment, harm reduction tools and advice to intravenous drug users regarding blood borne viruses. Through the mobile needle exchange unit and the static unit we hope to engage with the hard to reach in the drug using community. STATUS NHS Trust (Hampshire Partnership NHS Trust) TARGET GROUP 18+ intravenous drug users, however access for under 18 year olds is possible pending an assessment. MODELS OF PRACTICE Nurse-led team delivering syringes, full range of Gauged and colour coded needles, cookers, filters, vitamin c, citric acid, water amps, alcohol gel, condoms etc to IV users Management and access of pharmacy based needle exchange Management of the custody suite needle exchange Wound care Secondary needle exchange Management of clinical waste in various settings Specialist outreach work in partnership with the working womens project Specialised literature Harm Reduction advice Harm Reduction consultancy Signposting to treatment Blood Borne Virus advice, testing and HEP B vaccinations Provide training to other professionals |
